OKRs I worked on this week:
Grow my professional network
Prepare for and do an internship
Learn from challenging feedback
“Grow my professional network”
This week, I put some effort to craft my LinkedIn profile and feeds. I received many positive responses from my connections and instructors. My posts increased my career exposure, and thanks to that many people came to me to connect with me (hashtag really helps). Thanks to Susan, I also got to connect with a past DMBA-er (now at Zendesk) and we are going to have a chat this Friday. I’m sure this would help me build more primary connections.
“Prepare for and do an internship”
After continuously sending 4 to 5 applications per day for one week, I received call-backs from two companies - Kentik and Simple Practice. I am now at the stage of preparing for their interviews. I have been reading into their LinkedIn feeds to understand their service content, missions, and requirements for their intern role. I try to approach these two opportunities with a calm attitude, trying to have high standards and low expectations.
“Learn from challenging feedback”
This week I ran through two portfolio review sessions with mentors from ADP List and the outcome was really rewarding. The reviewers were able to assess my portfolio (my first case study) from various points of view (i.e. recruiters, hiring managers, and product team). We also did some troubleshooting regarding my portfolio’s accessibility, content visibility, and content hierarchy. After the session, I gathered all my notes and made adjustments to my portfolio based on the feedback.
