OKRs I worked on this week:
Junior review preparation
Prepare for and do an internship
Confidently talk about my primary interests, my top skills, and my future goals
Grow my professional LinkedIn network
“Junior review preparation”
During spring break, I was able to add one more case study to my portfolio. It was one of my strongest case studies as it has the most polished UI and user research documentation. I was able to hand in my portfolio link and personal statement on time. The next thing is to wait for the reviews and I wish those reviews are going to help me further improve my portfolio.
“Prepare for and do an internship”
An update regarding my internship interviews, I got rejected by both companies, Toast and Zendesk. Even though it may sound unfortunate, I don’t feel upset (maybe a little) since I learned a lot through these experiences. Moreover, I think I’ve grown so far mentally and I wish to celebrate that. The only thing I need to worry about now is how am I going to satisfy CCA’s internship requirements without any interview in my hands. I wish to schedule a meeting with my professional practice professors to discuss what is going to be the next step for me. With that being said, I am still going to continuously send out applications, update my resume, and write posts on LinkedIn to increase my exposure.
“Confidently talk about my primary interests, my top skills, and my future goals”
In one of my literature classes call “Writing for Designers”, we are currently practicing this OKR. We were told to develop a short yet straightforward elevator pitch and share it with our peers. I’ve talked about my elevator pitch with three other peers. I felt really inspired by what they brought to the table and I learned a lot from them.
The three interviews I had in the past few weeks also helped me complete this OKR. I was able to show up to the interviews with confidence and honestly talk about my skills, my projects, and career goals.
“Grow my professional LinkedIn network”
To kick off the second half of this semester, I decided to focus on OKRs that are about networking and growing my professional network. I’ve made a connection with a senior product designer from Zendesk and I plan to go on to the ADP list and learn more about designer mentorship.
